Will of Thomas Durant (Sr.)

(Abt 1753 – 1827)

5 January 1827

HORRY DISTRICT       IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN, I Thomas Durant of the State and District Aforesaid, being in ordinary health, and of Sound Mind, memory and Understanding (Blessed be God, for the same) and Calling to mind the Mortallity of this life, and Knoiwing it is appointed for all men Once to die, do hereby make and ordain this my last Will and testament, Viz: I recommend my Soul to God, who gave it, as to my worldly Estate that it has pleased God, to bless me with, I give and despose of in the following manner:-

1st Item  I give and bequeath to my beloved son David Durant the plantation or tract of land where on I now live, Except fifty acres round the place where Mariah Durant widow of Samuel Durant Lived, the line to the Westward to run one hundred and fifty yards from the house where the Said  - Mariah lived - which Said fifty acres - I give & Bequeath to my beloved Daughters, Sarah Durant, Frances Durant and Margaret Gause Durant;

Item I also give and bequeath to my above named three Daughters;- all my Stock of Cattle, Hogs, Sheep, Household and Ketching furniture, - Share and Share Alike;

Item I give and bequeath to my beloved Son Thomas Durant one Dollar which I consider a full Share of my Estate with what I have already given him;

Also I give to my beloved Daughter Rebeckah Watts one Dollar; Also to my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Durant wife of Joseph Durant One Dollar;

Also to my grand Son Henry Durant one Dollar;

Lastly I do nominate Constitute and appoint my Son David Durant And my Nephew John W. Durant my Executors to This my last Will and testament in Witness Whereof I have here unto Set my hand and Seal This fifth day of January one Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty Seven.
