09-15-1818. Last Will and Testament: I Nancy Pilkington of the County of Chesterfield being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will & testament in manner & form as follows to wit: Fst, I desire that all my debts be paid by my executors hereafter named. 2nd I give to my sister Elizabeth Pilkington the sum of One hundred pounds, one feather bed & furniture, & onetrunk (which is in the possession of my brother Willis Pilkington of Stokes County, State of North Carolina) & two trunks, one side saddle & two white counterpaines (in the possession of Sterling Niblett of the county of Luxenburg Virginia) & one trunk (which is in the possession of my brother David Pilkington of the county of Chesterfield, & all my wearing apparel which I give to her & her heirs forever. 3rd I give to my brother Willis Pilkington, the sum of ten pounds (with this reserve) in case my debts should amount to more than the sum of two hundred dollars, that he shall pay his proportion of the excess. 4th I give to my brother (Iepes, Jess, Jessi?) Pilkington the amount which he is due me, which I give to him & his heirs forever. 5th I give to my brother David Pilkington all the residue of my estate not heretofore disposed of which I give to him & his heirs forever. 6th & lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my brothers Willis Pilkington and David Pilkington executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and annulling all former wills or will by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this fifteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred & eighteen. Signed Nancy Pilkington(seal). In Chesterfield county court 1818 November 9th This last will & testament of Nancy Pilkington was proven by the oath of James Howlett & Thos B. Stone subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded. David Pilkington an executor named in said will came into court & renounced his right to qualify as such. And on the motion of Willis Pilkington also an executor named in said will who took the oath required by law & entered into bond with security conditioned as the law directs a certificate is granted him for obtaining probate, thereof in due form.
