WILL OF EDWARD WOODHAM

In the name of God amen, I Edward Woodham of the State of South Carolina and District of Sumter PLANTER. I being in low State of health, but in perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God for his Mercy, but calling into mind the Mortality of my body do Make & Ordain this instrument to be my last Will & Testament in manner and form as following TO WIT principally & first of all I recommend give my soul into the hands of almighty God who gave it. My Body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian like manner - and astouching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give & dispose of in the following Manner - (Viz.)First I lend to beloved Wife Mary Woodham during her life One Negro Woman Named Cate, Also One Horse named Call, & my household furniture where she lives. Second, I lend to Mary Wiggins during her life One Negro Man Named Jacob. Thirdly I give to my Daughter Polly Alexander One Negro Man Named Jack to her and her heirs forever, Fourthly I give to my Grandson (A?)riss Woodham One Negro Man Named Fortune to him and his heirs forever, fifthly I give to my Daughter Levicy Caton all that tract of land I purchased of Daniel Wiggins Adjoining Doctr. Millens land to her and her heirs forever. My will & desire is that my Stock of hogs & Cattle not heretofore given away to remain in the hands of my Wife & her benefit & after her death to be sold & divided amoung her Children. further my Will is that the Negro Girl Cate lent my Wife remain as my estate until she has two Children Which Children are to be disposed of as follows - the first ifany I give to my Grandson Athanatius Woodson to him and his heirs forever, the second if any I give to my Grandson Edward Woodson to him and his heirs forever: I do here constitute Make & Ordain Daniel Wiggins and Asa Woodard my Sole Executors of this my last Will & Testament, hereby uttterly disallow - revoke and disannull every other former Will or Testament by me made, Ratifying & Confirming this & no other to be mylast Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 10th day of August One thousand Eight hundred & twenty & in the forty fifth year of American Independence. Signed Sealed &
